There is nothing to deny the fact that cancer happens to be one of the leading causes of death all over the world. However, studies suggest that by making some simple changes to your lifestyle you would be able to cut down the chances of all kinds of cancers by as much as 30 to 50 per cent. One of these is following a healthy diet. In fact, there is increasing evidence these days that certain types of diets can increase your chances of contracting cancer and some kinds of diet can reduce the same. In fact, nutrition can also play a major role in coping with cancer and treating it as well.

It is rather hard to prove that certain kinds of foods may cause cancer. However, observation-based studies have indicated time and again that if you eat certain kinds of foods a lot it can increase the likelihood of you developing cancer. Examples of such foods may be enumerated as below:

  • sugar and refined carbs
  • processed meat
  • overcooked food
  • dairy

There are certain foods that contain properties that help your body combat the chances of contracting cancer. They may be enumerated as below:

  • vegetables
  • fruits
  • flaxseeds
  • spices
  • beans and legumes
  • nuts
  • olive oil
  • garlic
  • fish
  • dairy consumed in moderate quantities

Having a plant-based diet can also be extremely helpful in this regard as well. So, now you know the kind of foods that you should eat and ones you should avoid in this particular context.
